To provide a bearing unit for improving work efficiency in assembly, riding-resistance of a rolling element (ball) in rotation, low-noise capability and rolling fatigue life.
The bearing unit includes: an inner member 2 and an outer member 4 placed in opposition to each other to enable relative rotations; and a plurality of rolling elements 20 rollably incorporated in raceway grooves 6 and 8 formed on the inner member and the outer member, respectively, in opposition to each other. The inner member is provided with a counter bore 14, formed with the raceway groove whose groove shoulder is taken away, which is provided with a protrudingly curved catching margin 16 tangentially continuous with the raceway groove 6. A following relationship is satisfied; 0.004 Ri≤H≤0.008 Ri, where a value obtained by halving a difference between a diameter of the extreme protruding area of the catching margin and a diameter of a bottom portion of the raceway groove is defined as H, and a radius of curvature of the raceway groove of the inner member as Ri.
