PURPOSE: To manufacture a bearing having superior workability and wear resistance, by constituting the sliding surface of a bearing of an Fe-alloy sintered compact containing specific percentages of Cr, Mo, W, V, Si, C, and Co and having specific sintered density.
CONSTITUTION: The powder of an alloy consisting of 3W5% Cr, 4W6% Mo, 5W7% W, 1W3% V, 0.4W1.0% Si, 1.0W1.5% C, 0.1W1% Co, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is compacted, sintered at about 1,230°C by the conventional method, and annealed at about 800°C. Subsequently, the above sintered compact is hardened at ≥about 1,200°C and further tempered at about 550°C, so that bearing having ≥7.5g/cm3 sintered density can be formed. In this way, a long-life bearing having superior wear resistance can be obtained and, moreover, this bearing is useful for industrial purpose.
