PURPOSE: To prevent the segregation of graphite, etc., and to inhibit the generation of dust at the time of handling by mixing metal powder with a binder made of a fatty acid ester having a specified structure.
CONSTITUTION: Fatty acid ester having a structure represented by the formula is used as the objective binder for powder metallurgy. In the formula, each of R1-R4 is ≥9C aliphatic hydrocarbon group. Metal powder is mixed with this binder to form the objective powdery mixture for powder metallurgy. The segregation of a physical property improving component can be effectively prevented without degenerating the base metal powder or reducing the flowability of the powder and the lubricity of the powdery mixture at the time of handling is improved without using a lubricant.
