Abstract:
To provide a bioelectrochemical system capable of efficiently removing organic matter and nitrogen in waste water.SOLUTION: The bioelectrochemical system includes: a container; a water sprinkling device for sprinkling a liquid containing an organic matter into the container; an electrolyte-containing liquid contained in the container; an anode carrying electron donating microorganisms on a surface, the anode being placed in contact with the liquid contained in the container at a position in contact with the liquid sprayed from the water sprinkling device; and a cathode disposed to be in contact with the contained liquid, or adjacent to the contained liquid with a cation permeable diaphragm interposed therebetween.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
