Title:
BIOLOGICAL DENITRIFICATION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1190485
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a biological denitrification process for drainage the salt concentration of which is high or changes by a method in which methanol is used when salt concentration is lower than that of seawater, and organic acids, alcohols excluding methanol, and sugars are used when salt concentration is equal to or higher than that of seawater as a hydrogen donor in the denitrification process. SOLUTION: At the start of operation, raw water is kept in a raw water tank 1, is sent to a reactor 2 by a liquid supply pump 3, treated with nitric acid, and discharged as treated water. Simultaneously, a hydrogen donor in a hydrogen donor storage tank 4 is injected into the reactor 2 by an injection pump 5. The amount of the injection is calculated from the theoretical amounts of hydrogen necessary for reducing nitric acid into nitrogen and supplied by the hydrogen donor. The amount of hydrogen used for the synthesis of cells and others is added to the theoretical value. When the salt concentration of the raw water in the tank 1 is lower than that of seawater, methanol is used, and when the concentration is equal to or higher, organic acids, alcohols excluding methanol, and sugars are used as the hydrogen donor in a denitrification process.
