To provide such a technology that, after subjecting a biomass stock to sulfuric acid treatment, polysaccharides or oligosaccharides in the resultant aqueous sulfuric acid solution can be efficiently separated therefrom and retrieved.

A method of saccharification and retrieval for biomass is provided, comprising the following process: Polysaccharides or oligosaccharides eluted after subjecting a biomass stock to sulfuric acid treatment are separated from the resultant aqueous sulfuric acid solution using an insoluble material having the activity of binding to the polysaccharides or oligosaccharides in the aqueous sulfuric acid solution. An adsorbent for polysaccharides or oligosaccharides, with an active ingredient consisting of an inorganic substance prepared via a mineral's acid treatment step, is provided. A column for analyzing or aliquoting saccharides using the adsorbent, and a method for analyzing or aliquoting saccharides using the column, are also provided, respectively.
