To provide a biometric authentication system for reducing the biometric collation time, drastically reducing the risk that many pieces of biological information are simultaneously stolen and attaining a reduction in manufacturing cost and installation cost.
The biometric authentication system 1 comprises a common door lock section 2, a plurality of individual dwelling authentication sections 3, and a control section 4, and a controller 32 of the individual dwelling authentication section 3 collates biometric information stored in a ROM 35 of the individual dwelling authentication section 3 and user's biometric information acquired by a biometric information acquisition device 42. Moreover, the control section 4 transmits the user's biological information to one individual dwelling authentication section 3 selected by an operation of a numerical keypad section 43. A result of collation by the controller 32 of the individual dwelling authentication section 3 is directly transmitted from the selected individual dwelling authentication section 3 to the common door lock section 2, and the common door lock section 2 controls locking and unlocking of a common door 21.
