PURPOSE: To improve preservability of a bleach-fix bath remarkably by using a specified carbonyl bisulfite adduct or a specified phenyl bisulfite adduct.
CONSTITUTION: The title bleach-fix bath contains a complex ferric alt of an org. acid as bleaching agent, a thiosulfate as fixing agent, 0.01-1mole carbonyl bisulfite adduct or phenyl bisulfite adduct expressed by the formula I, II, or III per 1 liter bleach-fix bath, and a compd. contg. an amino group as functional group, and has 4W8pH. In the formulas I, II, and III, R1 is an H atom or a 1W5C alkyl group; R2 is a 1W5C alkyl group; M is an H atom or an alkali metal atom; each R3 and R4 is an H atom or an (un)substituted 1W5C alkyl group; n is zero or an integer of 1W4; X is an OH group, nitro group, or sulfone group; M is an H atom or an alkali metal atom. Thus, preservability of a bleach-fix bath is improved. The bath is held at a preferable pH value, and accumulation of Fe(II) is retarded.
