PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a blend suppressing propagation of a microorganism in a cosmetic or a composition for dermatology, exhibiting an effect with a small amount without inducing troubles such as skin irritation and intolerance, and useful as an antimicrobial agent.
SOLUTION: This blend contains 0.01-5 wt.% of a compound (e.g. a lipoamino acid) having antimicrobial activity selected from hydrolipid or lipid and 0.01-6 wt.% of a glyceryl monoalkyl ether of the formula; R-O-CH2-CHOH-CH2OH (R is a 3-14C alkyl). A weight ratio of the compound having antimicrobial activity to the glyceryl monoalkyl ether is 0.05-300. The hydrolipid is a reaction product generated by a coupling of a hydrophilic molecule selected from an amino acid (monomer, peptide, protein) and polysaccharides with a fatty acid, and the fatty acid presenting in the hydrolipid has 6-18 carbon atoms. The antimicrobial activity means an antimicrobial activity and/or antifungal activity and/or antiviral activity.
