Title:
BLENDED THERMOSETTING RESIN, PRODUCTION OF MOLDED ARTICLE USING THE RESIN AND MOLDED ARTICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001139787
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a blended thermosetting resin moldable by a spray-up molding without using a particular equipment to give a light-weight molded article free from defective appearance on the mold-side surface of the article such as sink mark, glassy texture, lowered smoothness, etc., and deformation of the article such as warpage and twist absolutely without using lamination and defoaming procedures and increasing the amount of filler.

The blended thermosetting resin contains 20-60 pts.wt. of a thermosetting resin composed of an unsaturated polyester, a vinyl ester or their mixture, 77.7-20 pts.wt. of a crosslinking monomer, 0.3-6.0 pts.wt. of a thixotropic agent and 2-20 pts.wt. of a polystyrene (the sum of the above components is 100 pts.wt.). The process for producing a molded article comprises the application of the blended thermoplastic resin to the back surface of a molded article or on a resin layer applied to a mold cavity and the curing of the blended resin. The present invention also discloses a molded article produced by this process.
