PURPOSE: To make it possible to form air flows of different flowing directions simultaneously by an impeller rotating in one direction by providing a blower wherein end plates having intake ports and intake air cut-off portions are disposed at both sides of a laminated impeller constituted by a multiplicity of sheet elements each having ventilation port.
CONSTITUTION: A blower has a laminated impeller 5 constituted by a multiplicity of sheet elements 6 each having ventilation ports 8. At both sides of the impeller 5, disposed are end plates 14, 15 having intake ports 14b, 15b and intake air cut-off portions 14c, 15c. As the impeller 5 is rotated, the air resinding in adjacent sheet elements are forced to the outside of the small gap 11 so that new air is induced into the gap 11 through the ventilation ports 8. Since the portion of the ventilation ports 8 near the intake air cut-off portions 14c, 15c of the end plates 14, 15 exhibit considerably high resistance against the flow of air while the portion of the ventilation ports 8 opposing to the intake ports 14b, 156 impose comparati-ely low resistance, air flows of different flowing directions are formed as represented by arrow lines 21, 23.
