To provide a whole cell bacteria vaccine composition for preventing pertussis originated from Bordetella parapertussis, which contains a whole cell of Bordetella parapertussis, a homogenate of the whole cell or a cell lysate, as an immunogen, and to provide a production method thereof.
Bordetella parapertussis is cultured under the conditions of 37°C and three days, and thereafter inactivated by adjusting the cell concentration to 1010 cells/mL and adding a formaldehyde solution such that the final concentration of formalin is 0.2%. The cell is adjusted to 1010 cells/mL in terms of cell density by adding sterile phosphate-buffered saline, to give a vaccine composition.
