To provide a boring method using a recording device having a boring device section capable of changing a number of binding holes to be bored with a simple operation.

Before execution of printing is commanded to a recording device from a host computer, information on a size of a recording medium, existence of holes provided on the recording medium, and a number of the holes when there are holes is designated. A boring device section does not bore the recording medium at a stationary position when the command from the host computer indicates that there is no hole. The section bores a designated number of holes on the recording medium under the stationary condition, when the command from the host computer indicates that there are holes.
