Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely estimate at low cost and at high speed when a branch destination of a branch instruction is estimated using a branch history having a correspondence table between the address of the branch instruction and the address of an estimated branch destination of the branch instruction.
SOLUTION: This branch estimation device is so constituted that a branch history storage part 21 stores a plurality of times of past branch results as the branch history for every branch instructions, when completing the processing of the branch instruction, a branch history updating part 22a updates the branch history of the branch history storage part 21 corresponding to the branch instruction based on the processing result, and a branch history updating part 22b updates the branch history 10 based on the updated branch history. The branch history is so constituted as to store latest sequential branching frequency and latest sequential noon-branching frequency.
