To provide an air-permeable woven fabric which has a good shape retention, has air permeability, allows for household washing, and has a good wearing feeling, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof and clothing using the same.SOLUTION: In an air-permeable woven fabric composed of warp yarns 2 and weft yarns 3, its woven texture is a plain woven fabric 1. The warp yarn 2 and the weft yarn 3 are formed of at least one spun yarn selected from a 100 mass% cotton spun yarn, a blended spun yarn composed of a cotton fiber and a polyester fiber, and a blended spun yarn composed of a cotton fiber and an acrylic fiber. In the air-permeable woven fabric, the warp yarns 2 are absent at a ratio of 1 or 2 to 10-30, and the weft yarns 3 are absent at a ratio of about 1 to 6-20. In the air-permeable woven fabric, the portion where the warp yarns and weft yarns are absent forms gaps 4 and 5, respectively. In this air-permeable woven fabric, a main warp yarn and weft yarn are a spun yarn containing cotton. As an example, a woven fabric is woven using warp yarns 2 which are absent at a ratio of 1 or 2 to 10-30 and weft yarns 3 which include alkaline aqueous solution soluble polyester yarns arranged at a ratio of 1 to 6-20, and then the alkaline aqueous solution soluble polyester yarns are dissolved and removed by using an alkaline aqueous solution at the time of refining the woven fabric, which results in obtaining the air-permeable woven fabric.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
