PURPOSE: To prevent the thickness of a rubber or plastic insulator layer from becoming non-uniform, by adjusting a bridging cylinder to conform the catenary of the cylinder to that of the core of the cable.
CONSTITUTION: During the bridging work, the tension of the core 6 is detected from the armature current of a motor 12 for driving a winder and is applied as a signal to a catenary calculator 14. A catenary constant is set on a catenary constant setting unit 13 and applied as a signal to the catenary calculator 14. A servo-adjuster 15 drives a catenary position adjusting servomotor 9 so that the support position of a bridging cylinder catenary position adjuster 8 becomes equal to a value instructed by the catenary calculator 14. Thus, the bridging cylinder 2 is so positioned that the core 6 goes through the center of the cylinder 2.
