This brittle label 10 comprises at least a substrate 1 a breaking layer 2 and an adhesive layer 3, and the adhesive layer 3 has a rugged structure. When the label 10 is adhered to the adherend and then peeled, at least a part of the layer 2 corresponding to projection part (A) of the adhesive layer 3 remains on the adherend so that the breaking layer is surely broken in accordance with the rugged structure of the adhesive layer 3. The breaking layer may be formed as a color layer as well as an optical diffraction structure such as a hologram and diffraction grating.
