Title:
BURST LIGHT AMPLIFIER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2739847
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent spontaneously emitted light and an excessively strong optical signal from appearing at an output in a burst light amplifier.
SOLUTION: This device is provided with an optical demultiplexer 1 branching an input optical burst signal into first and second optical burst signals, an optical fiber amplifier 2 amplifying the first optical burst signal and outputting the amplified optical burst signal, a photodetector 5 detecting the second optical burst signal and an optical switch 3 transmitting the amplified optical burst signal to an optical transmission line 4 only during it receives a driving signal. Then, the photodetector 5 transmits a driving signal to the optical switch 3 only during it detects the second optical burst signal. Moreover, when the input optical burst signal includes a dummy preamble part having a prescribed length and the main body part of the optical burst signal succeeding to the preamble part, the photodetector 5 may be made so as to transmit the driving signal to the optical switch 3 only during it receives the main body part of the optical burst signal of the second optical burst signal.
