PURPOSE: To reduce the outside diameter of a cable, by packing minute powdery materials around wires consisting of high polymer materials for optical communication and subjecting them to the working plastically together with a cable housing body to reduce the diameter of the cable.

CONSTITUTION: The cable for optical communication consists of wires 1 for optical communication consisting of high polymer materials, powdery materials 2, a housing body 3, etc. This housing body 3 is produced with a stainless pipe or the like, and the cable is subjected to the plastic working such as rolling of a drawing roll together with the stainless pipe of the housing body to reduce the outside diameter of the cable. Thus, wires 1 are compressed uniformly, and the outside diameter of the cable is made shorter as much as possible.
