Abstract:
PURPOSE:To retard drop in the capacity of a cadmium electrode in chargedischarge by retarding the coagulation of metallic cadmium and the formation of fine particles of hydroxide in charge-discharge of anode active material. CONSTITUTION:A small amount of magnesium compound and an anion surface active agent are added to a cadmium electrode or an electrolyte. The forming energy of crystalline nucleous is reduced and the stability of cadmium ionic species is increased to easily produce large Cd(OH)2. By adsorbing in the active site of metallic cadmium during charge, the coagulation of metallic cadmium is retarded. Capacity deterioration in charge-discharge is decreased.
