To provide a camera and the like capable of easily and extemporarily selecting an image to be outputted to an external device out of a plurality of images including monitor images and outputting the selected image.

The camera includes: an imaging device 5 and an imaging part 6 capable of photographing images including monitor images; a photographing control part 1a for controlling the photographing of images; a display part for displaying images; a preparatory picture generation part 8a which generates a picture including recorded images and monitor images in a plurality of display images as a preparatory picture for preparing an image to be outputted to the external device like a television 32 or a personal computer 30; a display control part 1b for displaying the preparatory picture on the display part 9; and an output image control part 1c which performs such control on the preparatory picture displayed on the display part 9 that an image selected from the plurality of display images is outputted to the external device as an output image.
