PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cancel an optical low-pass filter function.SOLUTION: A camera 20 comprises: a package 102 mounted with an imaging element 103 and a first birefringent optical member 104 that is placed in front of the imaging element 103 and that shifts and separates extraordinary light by predetermined distance in a first separating direction; and a second birefringent optical member 209 that is placed in front of the first birefringent optical member 104 and that shifts and separates extraordinary light by nearly the predetermined distance in a second separating direction which is shifted at almost 180° from the first separating direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
