To prevent the peeling of coating in the bottom inner surface of a can body and the generation of flaws in the outer peripheral edge and to facilitate the regulation of a die for obtaining a prescribed outer diameter dimension and a uniform curing quantity by using the grooved cylindrical die of small size and inexpensive manufacturing cost.
Spiral groove 12a fitting the outer peripheral edge 4a of a can lid 4 in a pressing state into the cylindrical die 12 rotated with a driving means is formed in the outer peripheral surface, and the mutual gap between the inner peripheral surface of the groove 12a and the axial line L of the can lid 4 housed in the housing part 11 is constituted so as to gradually reduce as the gap advances downward. Whereby, the longer working time for curling the outer peripheral edge 4a is secured compared with the conventional rotating type die, and a sudden compressive load in the radial direction of the can lid 4 is prevented to act.
