PURPOSE: To enable continuous changing of a damping force and to improve riding sensation, by a method wherein a varying valve and a main valve are disposed between an accumulator and an oil chamber in a car height regulator.

CONSTITUTION: A car height regulating device has a car height regulator 1 and an accumulator 2 and includes a varying valve 3 and a main valve 4 therebetween. The car height regulator 1 is provided slidably within a cylinder 11 with a piston part 13, disposed to the forward end of a pistong rod 12 inserted into the cylinder 11, and an oil chamber 14 in the cylinder 11 which is partitioned by the piston part 13. The valve 3 has a spool 32 slidably located in an inner chamber 31a of a housing 31, and sliding of the spool causes a land 32a to block lines 21b and 31c. This causes blocking of the lines 31b and 31c through movement of the spool 32 depending on a load, resulting in production of a damping force having orifice properies.
