Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To wash an automobile while detecting a protrusion such as a roof spoiler protruded in an opposite direction to the travel direction of a car washing machine when the car washing machine travels frontward from the rear part of the automobile.
SOLUTION: A car shape detecting device is provided with a means for detecting a first point P1 where the border line of a body is deflected reversely to a relative moving direction at the time of moving a frame and an automobile relatively to detect the body as a binary image and a second point P2 where the border line is deflected again into the relative moving direction and recognizing the presence of a protrusion, protruded in the relative moving direction, in a line segment connecting these two points, from the length and inclination of this line segment, or detecting three points that are the first point P1 where the border line is deflected reversely to the relative moving direction, the second point P2 where the border line is deflected again into the relative moving direction, and a third point P3 where a vertical line passing the point in a higher position in the car height direction between these two points intersects the border line, detecting the area and shape of a triangle formed by these three points P1, P2, P3 and recognizing the presence of a protrusion in a triangle formed part. Such a car shape detecting device is provided at a car washing machine, and a cleaning brush or the like is made act according to the shape of the detected protrusion to wash the automobile.
