To reduce sound volume generated when a vehicle to be washed is ridden on a carriage and is stopped in a car washing machine for moving the vehicle by mounting the vehicle on the carriage.

The carriage 20 for moving the vehicle to be washed is traveled by driving force of a motor 27 with a speed reducing machine. Since a rear end of the carriage 20 is abutted on a stopper 47 due to engagement of a claw 33 of an oscillating arm 32 to an engaging member 39 at a start position, the carriage 20 is held in the range. When the claw 33 passes the engaging member 39 when the carriage 20 retreats, the oscillating arm 32 rotates clockwise to operate a claw position detection switch 44. The motor 27 is stopped by the operation of the switch 44 and the carriage 20 is stopped. As a result, a movable distance of the carriage 20 at the start position is reduced.
