PURPOSE: To keep off any possible scratches on the surface of a car body due to a side brush by installing a mobile control means and a brush position control means for controlling a movement in a car washing machine body and a position in the car width direction of the side brush on the basis of each detection result of a front-rear end detecting means and a car width detecting means.
CONSTITUTION: A car washing machine body 1 is reciprocated, and a side brush 2 is moving in the direction of a side end from the front end of a vehicle in a state of coming into contact with the vehicle side. While the machine body 1 is moved to reach the rear end of the vehicle, if a car width expanding switch SW5 is turned on, an on-off motor 22 is reversed and the side brush 3 is shifted in the opening direction, namely, in a direction of separating it from the car body, and if a car width contracting switch SW6 is turned on, the on-off motor 22 is rotated normally, shifting the side brush 2 in the closing direction, namely, a direction of coming close to the car body. With this constitution, the side brush 2 is shifted in the car width direction according to ups and downs of side form of the vehicle, thus contact force of the side brush 2 against the vehicle side is kept constant.
