This carrier has a resin coating layer contg. silicone resin, an aminosilane coupling agent and an antioxidant. When a larger amt. of the antioxidant is contained in a part close to the core material, a satisfactory effect is produced, the triboelectric charging ability of this carrier is not deteriorated even after use for a long time and high image quality is maintained. When a larger amt. of the aminosilane coupling agent is contained in a part close to the core material, influence by ozone deterioration can be diminished. Deterioration is suppressed by incorporating a low resistance material so that the content is increased toward the surface. In the case where the aminosilane coupling agent is a quat. ammonium salt, deterioration can further be suppressed. A high molecular phenolic compd. used as the antioxidant produces a favorable effect.
