PURPOSE: To reduce the damage of a tape and to prevent the irregularity of winding by providing a roll, which presses a tape winding around a machine reel and the tape running toward the machine reel, in the vicinity of the contact point between both tapes.

CONSTITUTION: A roll 3 is provided in the vicinity of a contact point T between the tape winding around a machine reel 1 and the tape running toward the machine reel 1 and presses the tape on both of them. A magnetic head 2 is slided on the tape running between the machine reel 1 and a cartridge to read/ write data on the tape. The roll 3 presses the tape in the vicinity of the contact point T. Thus, the damage of the tape is reduced and the irregularity of winding is prevented.
