PURPOSE: To attain a small-sized and light weight cassette tape recorder by shifting a head substrate to its stand-by position when a tape cassette is loaded.
CONSTITUTION: A slide plate 6 having folded parts 7 of approximately U-shapes at both ends is attached slidably to a mechanism substrate 5. A cover attachment plate 11 has folded parts 12 at its both ends which contain rotary holes 13 corresponding to a rotary shaft 8 of the parts 7. An open/close cabinet 4 is fixed to the plate 11 for displacement of a tape cassette 36. When the cassette 36 is loaded, a tape cassette sensor 33 is moved down to give a displacement to a lock lever 35. Thus a lock part 34 is removed from a lock hole 32 of a head substrate 27. Then the substrate 27 is moved forward and set in a stand-by state by means of a spring 30 hooked between a hole 31 of a mechanism head 1 and a hole 29 of the substrate 27.
