Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a copper-based catalyst, to improve productivity and to produce 7-octen-1-al in an industrially advantageous manner by isomerizing 2,7-octadien-1-ol in the presence of the copper-based catalyst obtd. by treatment with an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal.
CONSTITUTION: Reduced copper, Raney copper or copper-zinc oxide is used as a copper-based catalyst obtd. by treatment with an alkali metal and/or an alkaline earth metal. When 7-octen-1-al is produced by isomerizing 2,7-octadien-1- ol, the copper-based catalyst is used as a reaction catalyst. The service life of the catalyst is prolonged, productivity is improved and 7-octen-1-al can be produced in an industrially advantageous manner.
