Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyet which can be supplied in a large quantity as that for detoxifying pollutants by decomposition instead of adsorption.
SOLUTION: The charcoal powder of burned carbide produced by burning ceder wood at 300-800°C is immersed in a metal salt solution such as a copper nitrate solution and a nickel nitrate solution or a metal alkoxide solution of Ti(OC3H7)4 Fe(C5H7O2)3 and others, and dried by a constant temperature drier to obtain raw material powder. A catalyst for decomposing/detoxifying pollutants obtained by packing the raws material powder in a mold and sintering the powder at 2500°C by the electric discharge between powder particles while the powder being pressurized under reduced pressure. In this way, the sintered charcoal produced by sintering the charcoal powder demonstrates a reducing function, and the function is further strengthened by microcrystal metal particles dispersed in the fine structure of the sintered charcoal so that pollutants in air or water are reduced/decomposed to be detoxified.
