Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution in high yield by (co)polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a reactional product prepared by bringing a metallocene- based transition metal compound into contact with diatomaceous earth and an oranoaluminum compound. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is (co)polymerized in the presence of a reactional product prepared by bringing (A) a metallocene-based transition metal compound of formula I or formula II [(CpRn<2>) is (substituted)cyclopentadienyl; R<1> is covalent bond-crosslinking group containing element of group 14 of long form of the periodic table; R<2> is H, halogen, etc.; R<3> is H, halogen, etc.; (m) is 0 or 1; (n) is integer to make n+m=5; M is metal of group 4, 5 and 6 of long form of the periodic table; R<4> is ligand; R<5-> is counter anion] into contact with (B) diatomaceous earth and (C) an oranoaluminum compound such as trimethylaluminum in a molar ratio of aluminum of the component A, component B and component C of 1/0.5/0.5 to 1/10,000/1,000,000 and optionally the component C to give the objective polymer.
