Abstract:

To efficiently reduce and purify NOx in an oxygen-excessive exhaust gas by suppressing degree of conversion of SO2 and adding a reducing agent such as gas oil.

A catalyst for purification of exhaust gas for purifying at least nitrogen oxides in an oxygen-excessive exhaust gas contg. at least necessary amt. of oxygen for oxidizing the components to be oxidized in the exhaust gas contains a composite oxides carrier consisting of at least two elements selected from Ti, Zr and Si and a noble metal carried on the multiple oxide carrier. The multiple oxide carrier has more acid points than those for alumina and NOx are adsorbed on the acid points and are reduced and purified by reacting them with a reducing agent by catalyst action of the noble metal.
