Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalytic body for purifying a waste gas such as CO and NOx by depositing one or more kinds of platinum group and rare earth elements on a carrier contg. calcium aluminate and fiber-shaped potassium titanate.

CONSTITUTION: A catalytic body consists of at least calcium aluminate and fiber-shaped potassium titanate as an essential constitutional material and if necessary, is added with the heat resistant basic aggregate such as melt-treated silica, alumina and ZrO2. The content of potassium titanate is regulated to 0.5W 50wt%. At least one kind of catalyst selected among platinum group and rare earth elements is deposited on the catalytic carrier. Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh and Ir as platinum group elements and Se, Sm and Y as rare earth elements are respectively used.
