Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the read speed in the intermittent mode by mixing the signal electric charge in the transfer part of an electric charge transfer register at the time of read in the intermittent mode.
CONSTITUTION: A floating diffusion area 7 is connected to the last stage of an electric charge transfer register 1 having the CCD structure, to which a transfer clock pulse is applied, through an output gate part 6, and a reset gate part 11 is provided between reset drain areas 10. At the time of read in the intermittent mode, a clock pulse &phiv OR is applied to the gate part 6 to set the potential to the low level, and the signal electric charge of the register 1 is stored in a transfer part 5L in the last stage, and another signal electric charge is mixed in the transfer part 5L by transfer clock pulses &phiv HL, &phiv H1 and &phiv H1. The mixed electric charge is transferred out to the area 7. Thus, the burden to the circuit system is reduced because the signal period of the output signal is extended, and the read speed in the intermittent mode is increased.
