To provide a composition effective for preventing or ameliorating diabetes including insulin-resistant diabetes, obesity or metabolic syndrome by taking a crushed material or extracted material of a plant widely used as a food material and active to promote the differentiation induction from a precursor fat cell to a fat cell.
The composition having activity to promote the differentiation induction from a precursor fat cell to a fat cell is composed of a crushed material or extracted material of the sprout (shoot) of a plant of the family Brassicaceae, preferably the genus Brassica, preferably broccoli, kale or cabbage. The invention further provides a cell differentiation promoter and a food or drink having cell differentiation promoting activity and containing the composition as an active component.
