The multi-blade blower 1 comprise a multi-blade fan 3 driven for rotation and a casing 5 receiving the multi-blade fan 3, having a suction opening 6 in an axial side surface of the multi-blade fan 3 and having a spiral-shaped scroll chamber 10 around an outer periphery of the multi-blade fan 3, in which a blast area is gradually enlarged from a starting point of a tongue 12 where a gap to the multi-blade fan 3 is minimum towards a discharge opening 7. An enlarging angle α1 at a winding start position of the spiral of the scroll chamber 10 is 3 to 5°, a winding angle θ of the spiral of the scroll chamber 10 is 260 to 320° and a diameter D/a height H at the multi-blade fan 3 is about 3/4.
