Title:
CERAMIC SINTERED BODY AND MOLD MADE OF CERAMICS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3541108
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a sintered body excellent in electric discharge machining property by incorporating insulating ceramic particles having a specified grain size and a conductive ceramic powder having a prescribed average grain size.
SOLUTION: About 75-40vol.% insulating ceramic particles having ≤10μ grain size when a cumulative frequency of 1.5-6mol% Y2O3 partially stabilized ZrO2, etc., may be 90%, 25-60vol.% conductive ceramic powder such as TiN and having ≤10μm grain size and a wax based binder are dispersed in a solvent such as water, and subjected to a wet mixing to prepare slurry. This slurry is subjected to spray drying, and the obtained granulated powder is calcined at about 800-1700°C for 1-3hr in the atmosphere. Then the calcined powder is subjected to pressure compacting, and the compact is burned under pressure at about 1450-1650°C to obtain a ZrO2-TiN composite material sintered body. This sintered body is subjected to wire cut electric discharge machining to obtain the mold having a planar smoothness, long in service life, hardly causing any damage and color migration of a work.
