PURPOSE: To easily allow a patient to transfer between a sit-up seat part and a bed floor part by interposing an ascending/descending mechanism for driving to allow the sit-up seat part to ascend and descend between a leg part provided with a moving caster and the sit-up seat, and providing an arm rest and a back rest being freely attachable and detachable on the sit-up seat part.

CONSTITUTION: In the case a patient on a bed is transferred to a wheelchair, the patient lying on his back is turned over so as to look at his back, and a nurse operates an ascending/descending mechanism 5 for allowing a sit-up seat part 4 of a patient transfer wheelchair 1 to ascend and descend, and adjusts the sit-up seat part 4 so as to become a little higher than the upper face of the bet floor part. Subsequently, it is migrated to the bedside, the sit-up seat part 4 is inserted into the upper face of the bed, the patient is turned over and moved so that his hips get on the sit-up seat part 4, and set to a sit-up state on the sit-up seat part 4 by raising the body. Next, the patient transfer wheelchair 1 is moved from the bed, the tip part 18 of a back rest 7 is inserted from the end part of an outer frame 16 of the sit-up seat part 4, and an arm rest 6 and the back rest 7 a detained to the outer frame 16 so as not to fall off.
