PURPOSE: To display the correct stroke order of a character by storing lines which constitute a character plotting pattern in the stroke order of the character, converting coordinates into ones having a specified size, storing the coordinates in a bit pattern memory and outputting them to a display device.

CONSTITUTION: The lines which constitute the character plotting pattern are stored in a storage device 2 as data in the stroke order of the character by a character plotting data input means 1. Then, the stored data is accessed in order of storage by a data access means 3. The position and the size of a displayed image and a display speed are specified by a display condition specification means 5. Based on the specification, the output means 5 stores the data from the access means 3 in a bit map memory and outputs it to the display device. Thus, the character plotting pattern is displayed on the screen of the display device according to the correct stroke order.
