PURPOSE: To improve the correction/change processing efficiency with a character processor by identifiably displaying the repeat stop position of the same characters so that the character supplied up to the set repeat stop position is automatically inserted and stopped.

CONSTITUTION: A CPU 1 displays a repeat stop position mark at a prescribed position of a display device 8 based on the repeat stop position information supplied from a keyboard 2. Then the CPU 1 starts to store the same character codes into a text file set on a RAM 5 for same character codes in case the same character codes are supplied. These writing actions of the same character codes are automatically stopped by said position mark. Thus the input of the same character codes can be stopped automatically at the repeat stop position set optionally. Then the proper coincidence is secured between the stop position of the repeat character and a designated position for each line. As a result, the input of the repeat character is effectively processed.
