Patent Searching and Data

Title:
CHARACTER RECOGNITION PROCESSING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06309502
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To exactly decide the presence or absence of crossings between strokes by a comparatively simple arithmetic processing.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of strokes A and B where the presence or absence of a crossing is decided between them, are divided into an optical number of segments AS1-BS2. Then, the distances D1-D4 are operated among these segments, and the segments AS2 and BS2 having the shortest distance are detected. Then, the segments AS2 and BS2 are divided again into new segments, and the segments AS22 and BS21 having the shortest distance are detected. These processings are repeated so that the shortest distance is acquired between both strokes A and B. If this distance is satisfactorily small to the whole size of a character, a crossing is recognized between the strokes A and B. If not, no crossing is recognized between them. Thus, it is possible to decide a crossing between both strokes regardless of the tilts, and the bends of the strokes or the positional relation between them.
