Abstract:
To provide a charged particle beam irradiation device capable of shortening the irradiation time of a charged particle beam.SOLUTION: A charged particle beam irradiation device 1 emits a charged particle beam B. The charged particle beam irradiation device 1 comprises: an accelerator 2 for accelerating charged particles to generate a charged particle beam B; an irradiation unit 3 that has a gantry 5 rotatable around a rotation axis and emits the charged particle beam B generated by the accelerator 2; and a transport unit 4 that has an energy degrader 43 provided outside the irradiation unit 3, for reducing the energy of the charged particle beam B generated by the accelerator 2, and transports the charged particle beam B generated by the accelerator 2 to the irradiation unit 3. The transport unit 4 transports the charged particle beam B to the irradiation unit 3 while maintaining the energy distribution of the charged particle beam B whose energy has been reduced by the energy degrader 43.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
