Title:
CHARGER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10150727
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a charger in which overcharge due to failure of a thermostat in a battery pack after the completion of the charging operation and overcurrent upon short circuit of a battery can be prevented surely through a simple structure.

A self-holding protector 40 is disposed in the vicinity of a fitting hole 12 of a battery pack 50. When the battery pack 50 is heated due to overcharge, a bimetal 42 in the self-holding protector is broken at a set temperature and power supply to the battery pack 50 is interrupted. Consequently, a current flows to the PCT 44 side of the self-holding protector 40 which is thereby heated and the bimetal 42 is heated and sustained in broken state. Similarly, when a large current flows through the battery pack 50 due to short circuit of a battery, the bimetal 42 is broken and power supply to the battery pack 50 is interrupted.
