PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a shopper from being confused when starting settlement processing.SOLUTION: A checkout system of an embodiment including a commodity registration device and a settlement device comprises generation means provided in the commodity registration device, settlement means provided in the settlement device and settlement control means provided in the commodity registration device or the settlement device. The generation means generates settlement information for settlement of a purchased commodity relating to one transaction. The settlement means performs settlement processing for settlement on the basis of the settlement information. The settlement control means does not cause the settlement means to start settlement processing for another transaction until a predetermined standby time elapses after completion of settlement processing through the settlement means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
