To provide a clad material having a high connecting strength between an active metal layer of titanium or the like and a base material metal layer, prevention of generation of surface oxidation of the titanium and compound in a connecting boundary and less seizure, and a method for manufacturing it.
The clad material 1 is obtained by integrally connecting a base material metal layer 6 of stainless steel or the like to an active metal layer 2 of titanium or the like via a thin layer 4 of aluminum or its alloy on at least one surface of the layer 2. The method for manufacturing the material 1 comprises the steps of laminating the layer 6 on at least one surface of the layer 2 via the layer 4, and compressing the obtained laminated material in its thickness direction and connecting it in a cold or warm temperature range except the ambient temperature. Further, the head for a golf club using the material 1 as a sole plate is provided.
