Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cladding mode stripper that features a simple structure and superior heat resistance, and is capable of eliminating cladding mode light.SOLUTION: A cladding mode stripper comprises two optical fibers 110, 210 and a heat conductive reinforcement jig 130 to which the two optical fibers 110, 210 are fixed. End faces of the two optical fibers 110, 210 are fusion-spliced together, and at least one of the two optical fibers has portions of cladding thereof covered with metallic layers 114, 214 that absorb cladding mode light. The metallic layers 114, 214 are coupled to the reinforcement jig 130 via heat-conductive members 116, 216.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
