PURPOSE: To efficiently remove dust to clean a grooved escalator step without damaging the step by attaching to a cleaning body holding portion a cleaning body made of an elastic material having an irregular portion to be fitted into the step groove, the holding portion being connected to a handle.
CONSTITUTION: A cleaning body holding portion 6 is connected to one end of a handle 4 using a connecting portion 21 and a cleaning body 8 is disposed between the cleaning body holding portion 6 and a removable holding member 7. The above members are coupled together by a coupling means 9. The cleaning body 9 is made of an elastic material such as a hard sponge and has an uneven surface identical or similar to a step groove in shape. Packing 10 made of an elastic material is disposed on the respective front side portions of the cleaning body holding portion 6 and the holding member 7. Thus even when the cleaning body 6 and the holding member 7 are made of a material that could cause damage to the step, the step can be protected by the packing 10.
