Abstract:
To address such a problem that how tow fibers are incorporated into a cleaning article with a hard surface in order to capture and hold dust in various ranges that a user encounters in the daily cleaning.SOLUTION: A cleaning article 10 has discrete tufts 15 of tow fibers. The discrete tufts 15 are unequally spaced from adjacent tufts 15, to provide improved collection and retention of dust from a target surface. The tufts 15 may have a pitch, the pitch decreasing as the longitudinal axis LA of the cleaning article is approached. The cleaning article 10 may be made by cutting out spaces 31 between tufts from a precursor sheet 13 and attaching the precursor sheet 13 to a carrier sheet 12. Or the cleaning article 10 may be made by cutting a precursor sheet 13 having tufts 15 into discrete portions. These discrete portions are bonded to a carrier sheet 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
